Health & Safety

ITCL’s philosophy is that all adverse incidents and accidents are preventable. We have tried and tested systems in place with strategic responsibility assigned to a qualified, experienced professional at Director level. Our quality management programme instils continuous improvement plans and we demand a zero tolerance policy to risk at all levels of the company.

Non destructive testing can:

  • Prevent interruptions and production breakdown by identifying potential problems
  • Often be undertaken safely without cessation of production or process
  • Be non-invasive, quick to prepare and easy to perform
  • Provide accurate documentation for quality standard compliance
  • Provide precise documentation for mandatory in-service inspection

It goes without saying that ITCL as a company and its individual employees fully comply with current standards and regulatory requirements. Our close partnership with TWI – a global leader in research and training in NDT and materials-joining technology – ensures that health & safety is an essential integral component of all aspects of training and service delivery. As a corporate partner of ASNT we fully subscribe to their commitment to the global NDT industry and their ambition to drive up health & safety standards in every sphere of business.

Health & Safety sits comfortably within our company’s overall quality policy and has a synergy with our commitment to safeguarding our operational environments: it’s a further expression of our determination to integrate these key issues within our service delivery. Unlike some organisations, we do not inflict health & safety, environmental issues and quality systems as extra layers to be laid upon our core business. We work hard to embed these themes into our testing and inspection routines and no better way than in the training of our workforce. By deploying an ITCL technician on site you can be assured that they will not just conduct testing and inspection by rote; they will have the underpinning awareness with regard to the immediate and wider environment and the inherent health & safety issues. It’s a statement to which we attest and stand by.

Risk assessment is a crucial element before and during any NDT or inspection and you can be confident that ITCL technicians undertake this thoroughly with high regard for the safety of personnel, local environment, equipment and production processes. A tailored, generic, all-encompassing document is sent to you prior to project commencement. Our on-site technicians then complete daily reports which are retained with the job sheets, detailing all aspects of the work undertaken and noting any immediate impact on the test or inspection site. This provides a detailed ‘rolling report’ throughout the project time.

This is tangibly demonstrated in the following protocols:

  • The observation and compliance of strict statutory and industry regulations
  • Risk assessment criteria for every project
  • Implementation of control measures
  • Adherence to tested industry standard procedures
  • Continuous workforce training and shared practice review
  • Insistence on correct test and inspection equipment
  • Top level safety protective clothing

Notwithstanding our statutory responsibilities our principle duty is to protect our employees and all those affected by our operations.
